For Summer 2021, Professor Shiqian Ma’s research group has two openings for the NSF-sponsored Research Experience for Undergraduates Program. The Summer 2021 REU program will focus on numerical optimization and its applications in data sciences. The program will last eight weeks from June 21 to August 15, 2021. Each participant will receive a stipend of $600 per week. NSF requires an REU participant to be either a US citizen or a US permanent resident. We welcome applications from students who major in all areas of study, including mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering.

Requirement: Programming experience (MATLAB/Python), linear algebra, optimization.

Students who are interested in this REU program should submit their applications to Prof. Ma at sqma@ucdavis.edu no later than May 15, 2021. The application package should include a CV, transcript and a statement about their motivation and interest to this project.
